Next talk: "Infrastructural Dependencies in the News Industry: Data Capture Under the Hood" by Aske Kammer on September 3, 1:15 - 2:45 pm CET In this seminar, Aske Kammer (Associate Professor at Roskilde University) presents his research into the technical infrastructures that runs "under the hood" of news websites. Integrating theory from (media) management, critical data studies, and journalism studies, he walks us through how he analyzed 147 general news websites from Denmark and mapped the underlying technical infrastructure. On this basis, he presents the network of technology companies that keeps the news running - and discusses the implications of dependencies upon such companies.
