[Air-L] Motivations for status updating

Dear Colleagues There's quite a nicely developed literature on the motivations behind contributing to Wikipedia and peer-produced software (e.g. Linux), but I wonder if there are notable studies on the motivations for updating statuses in Facebook and Twitter.
