RKCSI Colloquium Series Webcasts
Dear AOIRers, I received the note below from the Rob Kling Center for Social Informatics (RKCSI). They archive webcasts of their colloquium series. I thought the links inside the message would be of interest to some folks here. Are there other schools/departments that have online video archives? This might be a good place to start a list for future reference. -- Paul ____________________________________ [Please pardon for duplicate postings.] The Rob Kling Center for Social Informatics (RKCSI) sponsors a seasonal colloquium series on the Indiana University-Bloomington campus. http://rkcsi.indiana.edu/index.php/colloquium-series The link below takes you to the Fall 2006 lecture series and video of most lectures, including Howard Rheingold's lecture "Smart Mobs and Beyond." -- http://rkcsi.indiana.edu/index.php/2006-fall Video recordings of the Spring 2007 lecture series will be posted at the following URL as soon as they are available -- http://rkcsi.indiana.edu/index.php/2007-spring _______________________________________________ The Center for Social Informatics is jointly sponsored by the IU Schools of Library and Information Science and Informatics. The RKCSI videos are a part of an effort at the School of Library and Information Science, IU Bloomington. Included in the effort are talks from RKCSI, from Katy Borner's Networks and Complex Systems talk series, and material from several other venues. Visit the school-wide media RSS feed at http://www.slis.indiana.edu/media/full.php Persons of note with creative-commons licensed content within the archive include Carolyn Haythornwaite, Susan Herring, David Hakken, Paul Dourish, Kristin Eschenfelder, Steven Harnad, Jaron Lanier, and others. I'm very glad that someone is getting use out of this content. It has been painstakingly collected over a period of several years, in no small part due to efforts by individual faculty and one very diligent webmaster. They are all owed a debt of thanks. --elijah On Sat, 3 Feb 2007, Paul DiPerna wrote:

Hi, I have found this great resource for free online studies: http://www.eliteskills.com/free_education/?foo=x with links to free online courses at Berkeley or Stanford. Unfortunately, I cannot find any courses in Information Science (I would especially be interested in HCI and CMC). Is there any data base of such free online courses? I find the RKCSI videos especially valuable but I am looking for something more suitable for self study. Thanks, Maciej
