Video transcription services?
Hi Wanted to ask if anyone could recommend a reliable and affordable video transcription service? I have found several just from a search, but would prefer to go with a service that others have used and can recommend. Thanks John Glass
We use 3Play in my office at Rutgers. A bit pricey but very high quality. Lovely options for transcripts and captioning. -- Sharla Sava, PhD

Hello all, I used GMR <https://www.gmrtranscription.com/prices.aspx>Transcription <https://www.gmrtranscription.com/prices.aspx> services for my dissertation at the recommendation of others at the Graduate Center, CUNY, and they were excellent. I had 4 videos of student interviews transcribed. The transcriptions were fast, available in multiple formats, and they specialize in academic projects. And in my option (as a grad student living in NYC) they were very affordable. I believe you can get a referral discount as well. One thing I will say on this is that one may want to use a Steno service that has familiarity with Internet terminology, acronyms etc. as they do build custom dictionaries as they go along. For instance, CaptionFirst do all the ICANN work. Another is that there is world of difference between a rough transcript that rolls off a steno's fingers and a finished transcript. So allow extra time/money for proofreading if it is to be published. I do list a few services at http://isoc-ny.org/wiki/Accessibility_resources#Transcription_services -- --------------------------------------------------------------- Joly MacFie 218 565 9365 Skype:punkcast -------------------------------------------------------------- -
Thanks to all who provided suggestions/recommendations for transcription services. I think I will go with Rev.com and see how that works out. Sincerely appreciate your time and your recommendations.
