Multi-Modal Media/Format for Dissertation

That's fantastic! And it's in Education. In an arts program I'm sure this kind of approach would be well accepted but it's great to see a multi-modal format being used in another subject area. I'm studying the mechanics of communication in virtual environments and I've put serious thought into using different communication modes (IM, spatial 3-D chat etc) to illustrate and explain some of my theories. It's a tough battle convincing folks that it's still rigorous. Kudos to Dr. Vaughan for paving the way! On 2/21/07, Samita Nandy <samitanandy@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi, I'm responding to a thread from a few weeks back about alternative formats for dissertations. A lot of universities already require this and there's quite a wide and active movement around electronic theses and dissertations (my institution, WVU was the second in the US to require all theses and dissertations to be submitted electronically). The Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations consortium offers an annual award for innovative multimedia dissertations: http://www.ndltd.org/awards/awardscall2007 Sandy
