The Media Study Department, University at Buffalo, is looking for an artist with a focus in the area of immersive virtual reality and interactive environemts for a one year visiting lecturer/adjunct professor position. Preference will be given to candidates whose work demonstrates a significant engagement with VR's far-reaching potential as a media for contemporary art. Candidates should have a track record of work in several of the following areas: the creation and exhibition ofVirtual Reality artwork; graphics programming; 3-D modeling; sound design and experimentation; innovations in VR hardware; game design; and should also be able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of computing and its relationship to contemporary media practice. The successful candidate will teach courses in VR production and media analysis with a focus on interactive environments. MFA or Ph.D. preferred. Facilities include a large screen, tracked, passive stereo, projection-based, Virtual Reality system, with surround sound. Software currently used includes CAVElib, Performer, the Ygdrasil Authoring system, pd, Maya.
