at Virginia Tech 'Position Responsibilities: * Collaborate with faculty in Computer Science and other departments to create an interdisciplinary teaching and research program at the interface of computer science and the arts; * Initiate, seek funding for, conduct, and widely disseminate the results of a focused and productive research program; * Teach both graduate and undergraduate courses as assigned by the department head, using innovative and technology-based teaching methods to prepare students for the diverse workplace of the future; * Mentor graduate and undergraduate students and direct theses and dissertations; * Participate in departmental governance and outreach activities as appropriate to the position's rank and as assigned by the department head; * Assist in improving diversity in all aspects of the department; and * Fulfill expectations of the general faculty as described in the Faculty Handbook. Required qualifications: * Terminal degree appropriate to conduct research in computer animation and/or digital rendering; * Demonstrated ability to publish significant computer animation and/or digital rendering research consistent with desired rank; * Demonstrated ability or potential to secure research funding and build a research program in computer animation and/or digital rendering consistent with desired rank; * Demonstrated ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in computer animation and/or rendering; * Research relevant to developing area of digital arts (visual, performance, and/or musical); * Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other disciplines; * A coherent plan for future research.
