The program in Philosophy, Science and Technology (PST) in the School of Public Policy seeks applications for one or more full-time, tenure track positions in philosophy beginning in August 2009 at the rank of Assistant Professor. We are especially interested in philosophy of technology or in ethics of science and technology. We are also open to a variety of specializations such as sustainability or emerging technologies like nanotechnology, digital communication, and bio-medical development. For one of these positions, the competence and willingness to teach modern philosophy is strongly desired. We are also interested in strengthening Georgia Techs Center for Ethics and Technology. Both positions will involve working within a highly interdisciplinary and globally oriented research community with abundant opportunities for collaboration within the Institute and across major research universities in Atlanta, Georgia. Position Summaries: POSITION 1: The George Washington University Executive Leadership Doctoral Program (ELP) in Human and Organizational Learning has an ASSOCIATE level renewable three-year contract, non-tenure accruing, academic year faculty position available beginning August 2009. We seek a colleague with the demonstrated ability to produce theoretically based, practically relevant research in human and organizational learning. The successful candidate will have: an earned doctorate in Human and Organizational Studies, or a related field; experience as a practitioner with an established management career; evidence of practitioner-based research as indicated by publications in scholarly and/or practitioner-oriented outlets; experience coordinating real-time field research and/or evaluation projects in organizational settings; and, graduate level teaching and/or advising experience. POSITION 2: The George Washington University Executive Leadership Doctoral Program (ELP) in Human and Organizational Learning has a tenure accruing, academic year ASSISTANT Professor position available beginning August 2009. The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential for outstanding scholarly research in adult learning, human behavior, human agency and/or other individual-level phenomena. Successful candidates must also demonstrate the potential for distinguished teaching with a diverse population of students in human and organizational learning.
