Differences between article comment sections and Twitter/FB threads?
Hello brilliant AoIR colleagues, Does anyone know of research that looks at whether there are qualitative differences between article/video comment sections and Twitter/FB comment threads? Anything that looks at narrative structure or content differences? Hi Jose, I've done some preliminary work on this topic, as my Master's thesis concerned a recurring, viral phenomenon on Imgur.com. I compared and contrasted Imgur with both Reddit and Twitter briefly, looking at both differences in the content posted and in the comments sections. You might find my sources within those sections helpful (specifically, I have section "IV. Imgur's Affordances and Hegemony" in mind, pages 32-47). I've included the link to my thesis below for your convenience, it's too big in size to email out. https://libres.uncg.edu/ir/uncg/f/Julien_uncg_0154M_12222.pdf Best, Chris Chris Julien, MA in Sociology Greensboro, NC, USA www.chrisjulien.com On Mon, Jul 16, 2018 at 12:08 PM, Jose Marichal <jfmarichal@gmail.com> wrote:
