The event is co-organised by the Association for the Study of Ethnicity and Nationalism (ASEN) and the Centre for European Studies (CES) at the University of Exeter. The book tackles the issue of national identity in the age of digital media from a migration perspective, and introduces a theory and concept of 'doing nation' that puts emphasis on mediated interpersonal everyday communication practices in creating and sustaining the nation and makes an argument that the nation represents embodied cultural and discursive practices.
