<fontfamily><param>Geneva</param>New paper on The Internet - a new communicational Infrastructure in historical Perspective. From the information society type 4 to the information society type 5. The first part of the paper describes the internet as a new communicational infrastructure and discusses how the internet can be incorporated into a general history of media covering the history of mankind. The second part is concerned with general mechanisms in the present days transitions. The internet is seen as an emerging backbone in a new matrix of media, and the paper is concluded with a discussion of the web as a discursive and narrative space. The paper was presented at »The 15th Nordic Conference on Media and Communication Research«, Reykjavik, Iceland 11-13th August, 2001.
