Dear All A reminder: we are expecting you to send in full version of your paper, for the conference archive. Please send the paper by email to: papers@aoir.org by the conference date. There are no specific format requirements. Simply email your .pdf or .html file to papers@aoir.org The paper will be placed in the AoIR archive, accessible to AoIR members and for posterity. Please note: this is *not* publication - you do not need to assign copyright; please check previous emails on this point. You are at liberty and encouraged to provide information about accessing your work if it is already published, or in-press :) As is AoIR's custom, acceptance of the offer to present includes granting AoIR permission to place a copy in the archive, if you choose to send the paper to us, and permission to use your abstract and other details online and in print. Just reminding you that, unless you specifically indicate otherwise, your email address, affiliation, and short abstract may be circulated in print to all conference goers in the conference program - and, excepting your email address (which we will NOT put on the conference website), your abstract etc will also appear online. If you have not already provided a 100 word abstract for the programme, please do so immediately: vircomm@research.haifa.ac.il Paper presentations will all be within their respective sessions of 90 minutes. As indicated earlier, each presentation room will have: An Apple laptop, (there will be a couple of PC laptops available but access to these is limited, however you are welcome to use your own laptop if it is a pc) PC and Apple connecting cables Data projector Overhead projector Amps where necessary (big rooms) Video Please bring transparencies in case of emergencies. AoIR publishes a Internet Research Annual featuring selected papers from the conference. If you would like to have your paper considered for inclusion in this volume, you must send a complete version of the paper (3500 words) to Mia Consalvo consalvo@ohio.edu no later than October 1, 2004. Please note that this is separate process to the conference paper archive. See you all in Sussex! ...In synthesis, there are 2 types of paper submissions that can be done, with 2 slightly different formats: 1. Inclusion in the AoIR archives (conference full paper): There are NO specific format to follow regarding lenght, fonts, spacing, etc. As Ulla suggested, any discipline's rules for publication (or yours :) are acceptable. It is a good idea to name your file *yourlastname2004.pdf * (or .html) , before sending it to papers@aoir.org preferably by the conference date. If you need assistance please write to jhuns@vt.edu 2. If you'd like to be considered for inclusion in the Annual, as Nancy reminded us, the requirements is to limit your paper to 3,500 words max. You have to email your paper to consalvo@ohio.edu no later than October 1, 2004. Dear All If you are able to volunteer to help out during the AoIR conference we are looking for participation in the following tasks: Covering the registration desk Checking the internet access room Stewarding Assisting keynote speakers John Laprise (j-laprise@northwestern.edu) has very kindly offered to co- ordinate cover, so if further volunteers could email him direct that would be very much appreciated. All the best Kate O'Riordan www.sussex.ac.uk/cce/aoir
Dear All The birds of a feather sesions at AoIR this year are organised along new lines that we hope will help to enable networking and communication amongst delegates. During the first session of thw conference (on Sunday afternoon) all of the conference rooms are available for Birds of a Feather meetings. We hope this session will give people time to organise further meetings throughout the conference (both using the conference rooms and meeting off campus) - the conference rooms are all available throughout the lunch period which is 1.5 hours - which should give time for further short meetings where required. There will also be a further slot to be announced. To make the opening meetings as productive as possible we ask that you use the Birds of a feather forums ( http://forums.aoir.org/index.php?f=1 ) as well as this list to organise groups who would like to meet at the conference. Rooms can be allocated up to the conference as we can use the registration area to carry notices about these. I hope this is clear and that these sessions will contribute to open communication at the conference. All the best Kate
Dear All Just a reminder that the conference web site is being constantly updated - if you need information on the program, travel information, and conference information - this is all on site at: www.sussex.ac.uk/cce/aoir There will be additional updates up until the conference. Look forward to seeing you there! All the best Kate O'Riordan

Dear Ted I am deeply sorry that you have only just got this information and I apologise for the trouble that this is causing you. If we can assist you in finding accomodation in Brighton please contact us direct. I am copying you the response from the organising office for information and to clarifiy the situation to other AoIRers. If there is anyone else who is in the situation of thinking that they are staying on campus on Wednesday night, please contact us directly, either to me or the organisiing office (aoir5@sussex.ac.uk) Message text: "Yes in a way its true, however everyone who registered for accommodation on the Wednesday night was emailed and informed of this over a month ago. The option was put on the website in error. The website builders were notified as soon as it was noticed and asked to amend. I was then on leave and 2 weeks later on my return I noticed it had not been done. It was then rectified. I then emailed everyone who had reserved accommodation for that night and advised them of the error and apologised and sent them a list of hotels. Only a very few had money removed for that night, and this has already been refunded." (on behalf of CASA - conference services) I hope this clarifies the situation, I apologise for the confusion - please do contact us if we have missed anyone else. Regards Kate O'Riordan
Dear All For all of you who are coming to the conference, the printed program and conference guide is up on the 'program' page of the site (www.sussex.ac.uk/cce/aoir.) This consolidates most key information and you may find it useful to take a look - there will also be a printed version provided in your delegate packs. All the best, look forward to seeing you there. Kate O'Riordan
Hello Kate, thank you and all the others who make this conference possible with their work and energy. I appreciate it very much. I had a look at the conference guide right now and found out that the registration desk will close at 17.00 o'clock on sunday. As I will arrive at Falmer Station around 18.30 o'clock on that sunday and have booked accomodation on the campus I hope I don't have a problem. Will there be anybody who will provide check-inn-service for late-comers as I am one? Many greetings Petra Marion Schultz ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kathleen O'Riordan" <k.s.o-riordan@sussex.ac.uk> To: "Association of Internet Researchers" <air-l@aoir.org> Sent: Tuesday, September 14, 2004 2:55 PM Subject: [Air-l] AoIR Program update

Hi Kathleen, I am sorry to bother you with a question you have probably answered 100 times already: Are there going to be data projectors and computers in the conference rooms for PowerPoint presentations? If not, what AV equipment will be available? Thanks!
