I'm not sure what you're looking for and this may well be more informal than what you're hoping to find, but I discussed some critiques of the book in a blog entry once: http://www.esztersblog.com/archives/00000030.html (I'm in the midst of moving sites so this forwarding address is more reliable than the underlying address you'll see.) Eszter http://www.eszter.com --- Original message --- Hello All, I'm wondering if anyone out there can recommend scholarly critiques of Gladwell's tipping point? I have heard the critiques discussed, but am having some trouble finding sources. Any assistance would be most appreciated. Thanks, -TED Ted M. Thanks. To clarify, I am looking for responses to Gladwell's thesis in journals, book chapters, or books. -TED Ted M. Coopman Department of Communication University of Washington On Mon, 23 Aug 2004, Eszter Hargittai wrote:

Hello All,
I'm wondering if anyone out there can recommend scholarly critiques of Gladwell's tipping point? I have heard the critiques discussed, but am having some trouble finding sources.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.

To clarify, I am looking for responses to Gladwell's thesis in journals, book chapters, or books.
Only to Gladwell? What about Moore's Crossing the Chasm or Rogers' Diffusion of Innovation? I'd certainly be interested to read some critiques of the general concept, and a quick Google search turned up this book chapter critique of diffusion of innovation: http://web.cbs.dk/staff/damsgaard/pdf/whatswrongwithDOItheory.pdf Beth Mazur IDblog: http://idblog.org
Cool. Not exactly what I'm after, but interesting none-the-less. I am feeling a little abusive of the list, so please (if anyone has anything) feel free to contact via personal email. -TED Ted M. Coopman Department of Communication University of Washington On Mon, 23 Aug 2004, Beth Mazur wrote:

I am pulling together a list of sites where bloggers discuss the act of blogging, be it design, text, audience, etc. If you have sites to share please let me know off-list. I will be happy to post what I gather to the full list when I have it completed. If you want to use this article you should start a serious critique of their theses. They say that Rogers said: diffusion HISTORY is not important. Where did they find that?
