KMIA aims to collect papers reporting on experiences that are confronted with real situations and highlight problems, requirements and solutions that are derived from those experiences by taking into account the following perspectives: - organizational strategies to enact and promote KM within organizations, and their relation with the ICT technology - various kinds of knowledge, application domains, organizational structures, and their implication on KM - methods and approaches for the design of KM solutions - techniques and technologies for a sustainable KM (CSCW-based approaches, web-based approaches, etc.) - critical success factors for KM socio-technical solutions - evaluation of KM applications in real situations - lessons-learned in each phase of the KM application life-cycle, from conception up to continuous adaptation - critical comparison of technologies, field studies and strategies in KM - any other perspective contributing to a better understanding of KM in action Paper submission Papers presenting original research will be published by Springer Science and Business Media. Why aren't more websites accessible?

Im new to academic research and to this group, so forgive me if Im not following conventions. I'm in the process of submitting a master's level grant application to examine why more websites, specifically Canadian, are not made accessible for the visually impaired. While I believe the perceived cost and effort to make websites accessible is a significant reason, I was hoping to find research into other factors. If anyone knows of any research in this area - or in ascertaining the degree of inaccessibility - I would greatly appreciate any tips, links or advice. I have a semi-professional/semi-personal interest in Lightspeed Systems, an internet filtering company whose primary client-base is high schools. Sadly, most searches I'm turning up either talk about the services they provide or consist of desperate students ("omg plz help my skool uses this devil filter called lightspeed and i cant acess a page i need fer a report i am doing. how do i bypass this suystem!!1!one"), but pages actually discussing their technical platform or providing a thoughtful analysis of their business model/impact/political stance/etc are pretty scarce. Hi all, Hope you all are well! I am looking for some reading recommendations for a class I'm teaching this spring. It is an MA-level course in a technology-focused department with two tracks - one focused on web design and the other on social science and policy. The course is called "Organizations and Technology" and the description is quite broad. I am looking to revamp the class, most likely with a focus on industry developments and the ways in which various orgs are incorporating/capitalizing on "web 2.0" features. Any suggestions re: readings? Some I am already evaluating: Nicholas Carr's "Does IT Matter," "Information Rules" (Shapiro and Varian), "Long Tail" (Anderson), and "Wikinomics" (Tapscott and Williams).
