Very clever James, so clever that it may lead to anyone with an interest in Internet Research going to another list where they may actually hear about something other than adulation of a troll. Congratulations James, you've managed to elicit a useless email to waste yet more time for the list -- and I mean my email here. I've retained non-filtering of this list as I'm on the AoIR executive this year. I find it very sad that this list is no longer a real AoIR resource. I like a puzzle. All day I have been trying to figure out the Plan. It finally hit me. Reid Cornwell is indeed one of the cleverist people I have come in contact with. He spams a list of people in which he is held in low regard. For the purpose of inviting them to a conference. (how dare he) And/or present their intellectual work This of course is a nefarious plan to give them $200 and have 4 meals with them. Even more insidiously, he is going to put them in the presence of world-class scholars, educators and policy makers. He also exposes them to a three term Governor and former presidential candidate. While exposing them to state-of-the-art technology All of this in a lovely historical town with a major university (the cad) He offers to publish their works and to broadcast their presentations. Now here is the really twisted part. He does all of this so he can be called names and subjected to ad hominem attacks, to what end. He's going to steal 2 days of their time. May I also suggest to folks that they not use their professional/academic e-addresses for listservs. I set this account up solely for the purpose of listserv mail. I also see that I have received the Cornwell spam for the first time but bizarrely giving me the opportunity to unsubscribe. I've heard that some spam works by sending a message that asks you to unsub but in fact you end up actually getting your addressed grabbed and used for even more spam. Truth or urban myth? Rhiannon

e-commerce in the 'everyday life' literature

I need to find out what kind of research has been done in the past on e-commerce in the 'everyday life' context and literature. So far far I was able to find one research project on this by *Lunn and Suman* found in * Wellman* (2000). If anyone knows about more research in this field, let me know. Thank you!

I must say that I never gave so much thought about these problems. As a matter of fact, I never felt intimidated or experienced any lack of comfort because of one's title... If the discussion is of interest and "opinion" is all we have, then the opinion itself already entitles us the right to reasoning. Anyhow, I also believe that is a matter of personal stance that others may (or may not) be intimidated by titles that resemble hierarchical structures and power relations. It's usually best practice to at least include a clause in any consent forms noting that you're under obligation to report illegal activities to proper authorities should they come up during the interview. If you're working with some type of at-risk group where this is likely to become an issue, it's also worth mentioning elsewhere, especially at the start of the interview. Intimidation factor is most often in a too visible authority and patronising attitude. Sometimes it's worth remembering that PhD students, especially in the humanities and social sciences, are often middle-aged people with lots of professional experience.
