*** First Call for Journal First, Conference Second Papers *** 37th IEEE International Symposium on Software Reliability Engineering (ISSRE 2026) October 20-23, 2026, 5* St. Raphael Resort and Marina Limassol, Cyprus https://cyprusconferences.org/issre2026/ ISSRE 2026 will continue running the “Journal First Conference Second” track that seeks to include journal papers in the ISSRE 2026 program. The authors of papers published recently in prestigious software reliability engineering journals are invited to send a proposal to present their work at ISSRE 2026. Note that the submitted J1C2 paper shall not be a former workshop or conference paper. Via this scheme authors have the possibility to present their work to a wider audience in person, discuss, network with peers, and drive renewed interest to their work. The journal-first manuscripts are published through the journals and will not be part of the ISSRE proceedings. The journal-first papers will be listed in the conference program. At least one author of each presentation accepted for the journal-first program must register and attend the conference to present the paper at the time identified in the program. Scope A journal-first presentation submitted to ISSRE 2026 must adhere to the following criteria: • The paper was accepted for publication not earlier than January 1st 2025. • The paper is in the scope of the conference, as defined in the call for ISSRE 2026 research papers. • The paper reports completely new research results or presents novel contributions that significantly extend and were not reported in prior work. • The paper has not been presented at, and is not under consideration for, journal-first programs of other conferences. Submission of Proposals Authors of manuscripts that respect these criteria are invited to send a one-page presentation proposal (in IEEE 2-column format) via this submission link on EasyChair: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=issre2026, consisting of the paper's title, the paper's authors, the paper's abstract, a description of how the paper fits into the conference theme, and a pointer to the original journal paper at the journal's Web site. If the paper is not online yet, then specify so. Authors will also have to upload a copy of the paper. Please make sure to select the J1C2 track at the beginning of the submission process. Authors will be invited to present their paper at ISSRE 2026 after a check that the paper is in scope for the conference and it adheres to the criteria above. The papers will not be reviewed again for technical content. In case an exceptionally high number of proposals is received, presentation proposals will be prioritized according to their fit to the conference theme and structure of sessions. Dear colleagues, My new book, "Digital Equity Ecosystems: How Community Coalitions Reduce Inequality and Strengthen Democracy" published by the University of California Press is out today. About the book: Digital Equity Ecosystems introduces readers to the groundswell of community coalitions that work to alleviate technological inequity and social injustice. Through a comprehensive review of theories and concepts across the fields of information, communication, technology, and public health studies, Colin Rhinesmith reveals how the digital equity ecosystems framework is essential for addressing urgent digital inequalities. Investigating five original case studies of digital equity ecosystems across the United States, Rhinesmith shows how community coalitions serve as vital infrastructure to tackle digital inequality and strengthen democracy. Dear all, The first 3 postdoc positions for the project 'State-tech relations in the datafied welfare state [STATETECH]', funded by an ERC Advanced Grant and hosted by Goldsmiths, University of London, are now open for applications! Deadline is 21st of June, interviews week commencing 6th of July, start date October 1st. STATETECH investigates the relationship between the welfare state and digital technology providers in the context of data-driven innovation and explores what this means for a European social model. It is premised on two significant assumptions: 1) the relationship between digital technology providers and the welfare state is qualitatively different from previous and other forms of service provision; and 2) the European social model is transitioning towards a socio-technical model that has implications for welfare state functions. STATETECH investigates four lines of enquiry: a) governmentality; b) infrastructure; c) rentierism; and d) political regulation in order to assess a new institutional formation I refer to as the ‘tenant-state’. From simulating bombed-out neighborhoods to visualizing absence and loss, GenAI is used to test when cameras cannot and when platform governance denies visibility. In these moments, where the image is generated rather than captured, synthetic realism becomes a necessary strategy of witnessing, and a vulnerable one. This tension raises difficult questions: what counts as evidence, and what makes resistance credible? My talk reflects on a trajectory often overlooked: how creativity under siege is not only expressive but also evidentiary. Drawing on my fieldwork with Palestinian activists, I trace the blurred lines between synthetic testimony, algorithmic suppression, and the enduring suspicion shaped by “Pallywood” accusations that brand Palestinian visuals as staged by default. Through these dynamics, it examines how truth becomes both precarious and manufactured, and how GenAI functions as an affordance for visibility, credibility, and grief in the ongoing war. *Tom Divon *is an ethnographer of user-platform interactions, focusing on creator culture, platform functionalities, and user-generated content. His research examines the sociopolitical subcultures of platforms like TikTok and Instagram, emphasizing the intersecting domains: Palestinian, Israeli, and Jewish content creators; platform governance and content moderation; and the role of play and trauma in activism in war zones. Furthermore, Divon's work explores how artificial intelligence is mythologized, exploited, and weaponized against activists in digital cultures. No registration required. Dear all, We are pleased to share our co-editedspecial issue on the theme of ‘Knowing Urban Environments in a DigitallyMediated Age’, for Environment and Planning F: Philosophy, Theory, Models,Methods and Practice. The issue is home to seven papers that offer theoreticaland creative interventions to the question of ‘what constitutes knowledge ofurban environments in the digital age?’ The papers draw from creative andtheoretical projects to collectively propose alternative ways of knowing thecity through participatory, sensory, and more-than-human approaches. Byunsettling dominant methods of measurement, mapping, and representation, weargue that they foreground reflexivity, relationality, and epistemic humility.Despite being increasingly mediated by digital and data-driven technologies,which purport ideas of objectivity, we call for a critical examination of howwe might maintain a healthy scepticism of objectivity in digital systems whilesimultaneously implementing technologies into our modes of enquiry about thecity. Ultimately, the issue opens up possibilities for more plural and criticalforms of urban knowledge in a digitally mediated age. But this is about morethan cities; the issue contributes to wider fields of study that questiondominant knowledge systems and pose the question of how we might think and actotherwise for a better future with technology. Software aging is the progressive degradation of performance and dependability in computer programs, especially those executing for a long period of time. This phenomenon has been extensively studied for more than 20 years, as it affects many systems, from embedded devices to server software to critical systems. Software rejuvenation, i.e., proactive restart of application (components/threads/tasks), reboot of VMs or machines, and failover to a replica are the most prominent approaches to combat software aging.
