The Music and Online Cultures Research Network (MOCReN) presents: Utrecht University Winter Workshop (13, 14 & 15 January 2027) Music and (Post-)Truth in the Age of GenAI ‘Slopaganda’ CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: https://www.mocren.org/ww27/ Direct link to application form: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/DwUH36DRKH Supported by a Van Oostrom grant, MOCReN <https://mocren.org/> will host its second Winter Workshop at Utrecht University, NL on Wednesday 13, Thursday 14, and Friday 15 January 2027. This is not a traditional conference with paper sessions. The event will provide an opportunity for care-led and playful sessions to discuss research methods, develop work together, and network, this time with the theme of music and (post-)truth in the age of GenAI ‘slopaganda’. The workshop is prompted by, and will address, questions including: How should we investigate and theorise various political uses of music online during the post-truth era? What methodological and epistemological ground truths do we rely on when researching online music cultures? How do ideas of media literacy, suspicion, and aesthetic value inform our engagements with audiovisual genAI slopaganda? Why has music become involved in the grey area between fandom and conspiracism? How do post-truth and populist discourses collide in online music cultures? The deadline for all participation applications is Friday 21st August 2026. Subsequent correspondence regarding decisions, travel info, and accommodation recommendations will be sent out by Friday 11th September 2026. The final information including a schedule will be distributed in November 2026, and an online pre-workshop meeting will be held via videocall on Friday 11th December 2026. AoIR2026 Kelly Quinn Travel Scholarship Supports early-career scholars who lack the financial resources to attend AoIR 2026 in Mexico City. Open to PhD students and recent PhDs whose work has been accepted to the main conference programme or the Doctoral Colloquium, and who cannot cover travel through their institution or other funding. Hi everyone, Some housekeeping about the air-l mailing list. We're moving the list to a new host with updated software. Air-L isn't going anywhere, and for the most part you won't have to do anything. The new setup makes a few things easier. You’ll be able to better manage your own subscription settings, and switching between digest mode and individual messages without having to email an administrator. The one change that affects you is the list address. It's changing slightly: Old: air-l(a)listserv.aoir.org New: air-l(a)lists.aoir.org The old address will keep working during the transition, but starting on August 1st mail sent to air-l(a)listserv.aoir.org will stop going through and you will be directed to report it through the new email. With apologies for cross-posting Applications are open for the MA curriculum in Digital Media, Data and Society, part of the Masters? programme in Public and Corporate Communication at the University of Milan, Department of Social andPolitical Sciences. Coordinated by prof. Alessandro Gandini, taught by an international faculty comprising some of the most important digital scholars in their own field, the curriculum is focused on the critical study of datafication, platformisation, digital media andsocieties. It features a combination of theoretical and methodological modules taught by a faculty of internationally renown scholars in the academic field of digital media and sociology of communication, including: * Digital society * Social media and platform cultures * Visual communication * Digital politics and public opinion research * AI and data cultures * Coding for the computational social science * Data analysis & research design * Journalism, media & politics * Consumer culture * Value change in global societies This is the flagship curriculum of the nascent Milan School of Mediaand Communication (https://msmc.unimi.it/people/) a new research initiative that brings together researchers at the University of Milan with an interest in digital media and communication, platform studies, journalism, digital methods and artificial intelligence, and public opinion research. For EU candidates and visa holders, there are 200 places available. Applications may be submitted until 25 August 2026. Admission is subject to an entry test, undertaken online on 2 September 2026 h. 9.30 am. Classes start on the third week of September and are taught entirely in English. Mandatory entry requirement for all students is the possession of an English language certification level B2 or superior.
