In December we are introducing "Women, Art, and Technology", edited by Judy Malloy which documents women's core contributions to art and technology creation. The book includes overviews of the history and foundations of the field by, among others, artists Sheila Pinkel and Kathy Brew; classic papers by women working in art and technology; papers written expressly for this book by women whose work is currently shaping and reshaping the field; and a series of critical essays that look to the future. Ayers, New School for Social Research, New York City Call for Chapters Extended deadline: January 30th, 2004 There is no doubt that the Internet has the ability to shape and transform the art fields. The popular culture art forms- Film, Television and Music have found their specific homes in cyberspace, but out of the big three, music has found the most controversial space to say the least. In the post MP3 scare[*], this volume seeks to examine the role of cyberspace in the cultural production, creation and transformation in the way which society consumes and uses music in its various forms. This volume seeks to examine music and cyberspace, utilizing theoretical perspectives from cultural studies, sociology, cyberculture studies, feminist perspectives and media studies Suggested submission topics include, but not limited to: * How cyberspace challenges/confirms traditional production of music cultures * Online music (sub)cultures vs. Real Life (sub)music cultures * Musical genre manifestations online * Theoretical perspectives on the digitalization of music * Theoretical perspectives of consuming music through cyberspace * Case/Comparative studies of fan groups and fan identity in cyberspace * Quantitative studies on downloaders * Artist/Audience Interactions online * The Political Economy of Digital Music * Politics of Digital Music Chapters should be submitted in Microsoft Word format, 12 point font, double spaced. You criticized the content that was covered in my post but included none yourself to rectify what you perceived to be a problem. That was not only unhelpful, it was nonacademic. And every single rss program I listed in my post most certainly does require .net to work properly. You not providing any of your own sources that do not require .net wasn't very helpful. And your one link, http://syndic8.com , that you included in your reply was mentioned several times in the tutorials and rss explanations that I also provided links to. I hope you put a little more effort and consideration into any further replies regarding this topic.
