Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science or related discipline at the time of appointment. Established in 2005, WPI’s top-ranked IMGD program is a collaborative venture between the Computer Science, Humanities & Arts, and Social Science & Policy Studies departments, with close affiliations to the Learning Sciences and the Robotics Engineering Programs. IMGD has a robust undergraduate B.S. program that balances artistic and technical skills, with a growing graduate M.S. program in interactive media and game design. We welcome faculty candidates with expertise in any of a variety of relevant areas, such as (but not limited to): • novel interface design/immersive HCI, • technical game development, • mobile and networked games, • virtual and augmented reality, • games and learning, • procedural content generation, and • technical animation. Successful candidates will have a clear plan to establish a research program within IMGD, seek external research funding, and participate in teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in IMGD and the Computer Science department. The 14 core and 9 affiliated IMGD faculty members bring diverse skills and experiences to the teaching and scholarship of all things interactive. Hello everyone, I got this from my PhD colleague André Baltz and I thought that this might be of interest for someone on this list. DATA SELFIE Data Selfie explores our relationship to the online data we leave behind as a result of media consumption and social networks. In the modern age, almost everyone has an online representation of oneself and we are constantly and actively sharing information publically on various social media platforms. At the same time we are under constant surveillance by social media companies and “share” information unconsciously. How do our data profiles, the ones we actively create, compare to the profiles made by the machines at Facebook, Google and Co. – the profiles we never get to see, but unconsciously create? Why does Facebook need your phone number or your phone contacts or the data from your WhatsApp account? Why does Facebook track the time you spend looking at the posts in your news feed? Is the sole purpose of this data gathering to serve us more relevant ads? Is there something else afoot? Data Selfie is an application that aims to provide a personal perspective on data mining, predictive analytics and our online data identity – including inferred information from our consumption. In our data society algorithms and Big Data are increasingly defining our lives. Therefore, it is important – especially for those who are indifferent to this issue – to be aware of the power and influence your own data has on you. Important: We are not interested in your data. We are excited to announce the *‘Lives of Data v2.0: Computing, Money, Media’ Workshop, on 05-06 January 2018*. *Call for Abstracts* The first ‘Lives of Data’ Workshop <http://sarai.net/lives-of-data-workshop-january-5-7-2017/>, in January 2017, initiated engaging, cross-disciplinary conversations <http://sarai.net/lives-of-data-workshop-report-recordings/> on the historical, cultural, political, and technological conditions of data-driven knowledge production and circulation in India and South Asia. The workshop brought together a diverse group of interdisciplinary researchers and practitioners with backgrounds in history of science, anthropology, media and technology studies, software engineering, data science, economics, and policy-making. The first workshop addressed a region and polity emboldened by a futuristic nostalgia for sovereignty via digitality and biometrics, and everyday ‘ends of history’ through technological disruptions. The Lives of Data v2.0 workshop aims to further examine the implications of the data revolution, and the historical and emergent computational cultures in India and South Asia. The workshop will build upon a mix of academic and practice-based research on history of statistics, media and computational cultures, politics and practices of data-driven governance, and big data infrastructures and imaginaries. In addition to the themes of the first workshop <http://sarai.net/call-for-abstracts-lives-of-data-workshop/>, this iteration will also focus on questions concerning digital money and machine intelligence. The Sarai Programme, CSDS invites submission of abstracts for the ‘Lives of Data v2.0: Computing, Money, Media’ Workshop. Students also interested in the politics of digital design, critical perspectives on knowledge, and/or feminist, queer, and postcolonial perspectives on science and technology are especially encouraged to apply. The incoming student will receive funding for two years under the supervision of Dr. James Malazita, Assistant Professor of STS and of Games & Simulation Arts & Sciences. Among the student's responsibilities will be the implementing and co-directing of the Tactical Humanities Lab, a new digital humanities physical and digital research space; participation in a National Endowment for the Humanities-funded project bridging critical humanities and computer science education; generation of publications and grant applications; mentoring of undergraduate design, STS, and computer science students; and the pursuit of their own independent research. The incoming student will be fully funded for two years, which includes tuition, a stipend for two academic years, and funding for two summers. The student will also have the opportunity to access funds for conference travel and for the purchasing of materials related to the Tactical Humanities Lab. The student will have the opportunity to fund the remainder of their graduate education through internal and external grant funding, as well as through Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant positions within the Department of Science & Technology Studies. Although there are many how-to guides for practicing social media journalism, there is a shortage of texts that dwell into the myriad of social, cultural, political, and economic issues surrounding social media journalism. It is due to this lack of discussions about the convergence of news organizations and social media platforms, that an edited volume, *Social Media Journalism: Issues and Challenges*, is proposed.
