Closing Date: 13 March 2013 *** Ref 134/13 Professor in Digital Humanities, School of Humanities & Communication Arts, University of Western Sydney The School of Humanities and Communication Arts brings together scholars with interdisciplinary research interests in the following fields: advertising, anthropology, Asian studies, cultural studies, graphic design, history, international relations, journalism, linguistics and modern languages, literature and literary studies, media and visual studies, media production, music recording and performance, music therapy, philosophy, photography, political and social theory, religious studies, and web design. Their research intersects with the focal areas of a range of University Research Institutes and Centres: The Institute for Culture and Society, The MARCS Institute, The Religion and Society Research Centre, and the Writing and Society Research Centre. In the area of Digital Humanities, the School will be working in very close collaboration with the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics and with the eResearch team. In addition to researchers from the School of Humanities and Communication Arts, the Digital Humanities Research Group is expected to incorporate researchers from the technology disciplines, primarily, from the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics and to develop close links with the UWS eResearch Team. Applications are invited for the continuing position of Professor (Academic Level E) from scholars with outstanding teaching and research strengths in Digital Humanities. The position will be responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing research and teaching programs in the Digital Humanities. As the Professor in Digital Humanities, you will be responsible for leading and developing the new Digital Humanities Research Group (DHRG). You will have a PhD and a demonstrable record of excellent teaching and high quality international publications in the area of Digital Humanities, and success in obtaining competitive research funding and delivery on the projects. You will bring with you management and leadership skills, and experience in generating and managing large collaborative and interdisciplinary projects. Arguably, throughout these last two years, and before, Arab women played a critical and vital role in paving the way for the eruption of the “Arab Spring” movements: mobilizing their fellow citizens to take part in the revolts, documenting the unfolding events with their own cameras and cell phones, both as citizen journalists and professional reporters, and shaping public opinion about ongoing issues, changes, and challenges, through the extensive use of digital media, such as Twitter, Facebook, and blogs. This is a call for papers, across disciplines, aiming for critical and evidence-based evaluations of the multiple roles played by Arab women in this changing region, both as senders and receivers of mediated messages, through the use of different types of media before, during, and beyond the Arab Spring, including both new, social media, as well as other media outlets, such as satellite television channels and the press. First-person and ethnographic accounts are welcomed, but CyberOrient accepts contributions from any field of study and using any methodological orientation. Please respond to Gordon directly at <gordon.hoke(a)abbott.com> Thanks in advance, Peter I'm wondering if you or a colleague might have encountered the challenge of preserving content that appears on social media and mobile apps. I am dealing with that here at Abbott Labs. There are questions about 1) ownership of the content 2) ways to capture it, and 3) ways to preserve it for posterity (or regualtions, audits, or legal defense.) Any ideas or referrals? Thanks!

At the same time, Web technologies and IT applications such as decision support systems, workflow management systems, enterprise systems, value-chain management systems, and document and content management systems have allowed these systems to increase organizational productivity, bring the organization closer to its stakeholders, and create new forms of competition and inter-organizational collaboration. Foremost, a variety of theories, methods, best practices, and tools have been developed in different scientific areas to support the design and implementation of initiatives aimed in promoting organizational learning, organizational memory, and the transformation of organizational identity to improve organizational agility, intelligence, and resilience. Overall Objective of the Book The main contributor of this book is comprised of a group that carries out research on IS/IT through interdisciplinary research and development projects (such as transfer of knowledge, dissemination of knowledge, and various other research approaches including basic, transactional, and clinical research), as well as advanced training projects aiming to develop systematic and comprehensive strategies that promote overall organizational well-being. The main aim is to advise and support organizational agents who want ensure success in terms of financial, social, and environmental aspects as well as in the aspect of human development in a more sustainable way. Essential Information: Extended abstracts should describe either (1) thought-provoking ideas with the potential for interesting discussions at the conference, or (2) works-in-progress for sharing valuable ideas, eliciting feedback on early-stage work, or fostering discussions and collaborations among colleagues. We particularly seek extended abstracts from the full range of disciplines involved in Web Science research. Archival publication is optional. (If accepted you can choose whether to have the paper appear in the proceedings) The conference separates mode of presentation from mode of publication. Web Science embraces the study of the Web as a vast universal information network of people and communities. As such, Web Science includes the study of social networks whose work, expression, and play take place on the Web. The social sciences and computational sciences meet in Web Science and complement one another: Studying human behavior and social interaction contributes to our understanding of the Web, while Web data is transforming how social science is conducted. The Web presents us with a great opportunity as well as an obligation: If we are to ensure the Web benefits humanity we must do our best to understand it. The Web Science conference is inherently interdisciplinary, as it attempts to integrate computer and information sciences, communication, linguistics, sociology, psychology, economics, law, political science, philosophy, digital humanities, and other disciplines in pursuit of an understanding of the Web. This conference is unique in the manner in which it brings these disciplines together in creative and critical dialogue, and we invite papers from all the above disciplines, and in particular those that cross traditional disciplinary boundaries.
