As Program chair, I wish to invite members of the Air-list to nominate to act as reviewers of proposals. A reviewer will need to reviewer a number of 700-word abstracts, provide basic feedback, according to set criteria. A reviewer will also provide assistance to the sub-chairs responsible for groups of papers in finalising their recommendations for inclusion in the program. This work will need to be done in March. There is an interactive website that will be used for managing the review process (the other side of the conference submission website :) ). I expect that, with a longer abstract, we will actually make the job a little easier (if slightly more time), because there will be more substance on which to choose for or against a paper. I note that, in particular, we will need some reviewers fluent in French; and we will need reviewers for creative/aesthetic presentations as well as more traditional scholarly papers. Reviewers will shortly be able to join a specialised mailing list aircon through which all review/program business will be conducted. The TPRC offers the Graduate Student Paper award to support and encourage excellence in telecommunications research at the graduate level. Papers analyzing any aspect of communications and information policy are eligible for the award. The competition is open to all individuals who were graduate or law students on October 1, 2002 (thus, "first-year" faculty members and industry and government professionals may be eligible). Papers may be based on research undertaken for a master�s thesis, for a Ph.D. dissertation or for other supervised analytical writing. The award recipients will be invited to attend (and may be asked to present their paper) at the Conference to be held September 19 � 21, 2003 at the George Mason University Law School, Arlington, Virginia. All submissions should be double-spaced and no longer than 30 pages. Papers must be submitted via the TPRC web site. The site contains a form that you can use to submit your information and instructions for submitting your nomination letter. All submissions are due by March 29, 2003 - no papers will be accepted after this date.
