hissy fit?

1. Despite David Silver's astonishing assertion, I have no recollection of objecting to teaching-oriented posts to this list. I, too, teach (and Internet-Society to boot, and I welcome learning more about teaching the subject. 2. I do object to gratuitous personal attacks on the AoIR list, such as David Silver saying I will have a "hissy fit". I don't know where it has come from, as David Silver and I have not had any contact for many months. And the last time was when David launched another gratuitous personal attack on me -- on his blog. 3. I don't know where Dr Silver's animus stems from. For the record, I have not had anything do with any administrative or scholarly matter involving him. 4. I wouldn't have thought it was necessary, but I ask AoIR leaders to remind list members to avoid personal attacks on each other. CAT User Survey Starts Next Week

Folks, On Monday, all holders of Coding Analysis Toolkit user accounts and sub-accounts will receive a 'token' via email from the University Center of Social and Urban Research. This unique "link" will take you into a 10-20 minute web-based survey we have spent most of the semester crafting. The CAT system has grown steadily from a comparison/adjudication tool, to a full-fledged coding and analysis system. We are also beta-testing our new Blog Scraper, which will archive blog posts for you and output them in CAT-ready format. https://surveyweb2.ucsur.pitt.edu/qblog/page_login.php (blog scraper tool) To complete the survey, you will need to have used and be familiar with at least some part of CAT. The survey will be open until May 15. Anyone who has completed the survey and who has uploaded datasets to CAT (with the exception of friends & family) will be entered in a drawing for an iPod Nano worth ~$200. We will give away one Nano for every hundred (or portion of a hundred) completed surveys. If there are 101 completed surveys, we will give away two Nanos. At this point there are more than 250 primary account holders and 100 sub-account holders. We see that a core group of about 50 primary account holders have datasets loaded and sub-accounts created. We would very much like to increase this number. This web survey will let us know what direction to take the toolkit and it will provide fodder for an ongoing study by myself and my PhD student. If at all possible, please take the time to upload even just a very small dataset and give CAT a try. Numerous improvements have resulted from past feedback. We hope you will join the active user group and take the time to complete the survey. The awareness of a political significants media such as internet are the implications of their capacitiy to connected through wide range networks of academicians. the precedents of this actions are the collaborations productions of Bisa Dewek Documentary film between department of anthropology university of Indonesia and IPPHTI (*Ikatan petani Pengendalian Hama Terpadu Indonesia)*. Barry and NetLab have moved

Dear Friends, After nearly 39 years of my being at Toronto, I -- and NetLab -- have moved away from the Centre and Community Studies and to the Sociology Department. It's a bittersweet moment, leaving behind old friends and many memories but having more intensified contact with my sociological colleagues. My new coordinates are below. I am only giving out my phone number on request, basically because I haven't figured out the new voice mail system. The reasons for the move are complex. Don't ask me on email, but I'll be happy to talk with you when next I see you. I'll be at the ICA meetings in Montreal late April, l'Ecole Ete in Montreal early July, the Rurals in Manchester NH late July, and the ASA meetings in Boston early August.
