Dear All, my name is Bas ten Hove and I am a fourth year student Applied Communication Studies at the University of Twente, The Netherlands and I would kindly ask for your assistence. A subject that I am working on is a usability test of a website (www.th-i.nl, my own website).] My study combines heuristic evaluation and a Thinking Aloud protocol. However, for the Heuristic Evaluation I need some experts, preferably more then three and I am asking for your help in that matter. Would you have time (and energy) to evaluate this website? You might wonder why i haven't asked Thea van der Geest or Menno De Jong from the University Twente, but since they are both going on vacation next week they don't have time enough. apologies for x-posting... C a l l _ f o r _ p a p e r s Submissions are invited for a conference on "The Global and the Local in Mobile Communication" to take place in Budapest, June 10-11, 2004. Four sections of submitted papers are planned on the topics of 1. GLOBALIZATION AND MOBILE COMMUNICATION 2. MOBILE COMMUNICATION AND LOCAL LIFE 3. MMS AND VIDEO IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION 4. MOBILE COMMUNICATION AND THE NEW INTIMACY Target dates: Submission of abstracts (max. 600 words) and short biographical statements (max. 150 words) by January 12, 2004. Abstracts should emphasize (a) where the proposed paper fits within the broader set of inquiries in the area of interest, and (b) what is new and substantial in the proposed contribution relative to the state of art in the field. Abstract submitters will be notified of the decision concerning acceptance by February 2, 2004. Deadline for receipt of draft full-length versions of papers (max. 3000 words, references formatted according to the Chicago Manual of Style): April 26. Receipt of draft papers by this deadline is a condition for inclusion in the program. The papers will be compiled and distributed at the time of the conference to all participants. Deadline for receipt of final manuscripts for inclusion in the published conference proceedings: July 19. We are trying to get a sample of world-wide English speakers to complete our Web survey, and so the international and interdisciplinary nature of AOIR made this list the perfect place to start our publicity. Someone recently posted re: good journals to publish Net-focused research. Please consider submitting to NMEDIAC, The Journal of New Media and Culture (at nmediac.net) The goal of the journal is to publish interdisciplinary work and work that represents approahing issues of new media and culture from specific fields. Recently we have had a lot of humanities oriented work, and we really need more articles that integrated social science approaches as well. Submissions from Air-heads are encourage and definitely appropriate to the journal's scope and mission!
