The goal of the new created such systems is to increase the statistic performances for detection, classification, and segmentation of regions of interest from images. The idea is to transfer the decision of individual classifiers to a global classifier (considered more objective). The applications of modern and performant neural networks in different domains: environment, industry, medicine, agriculture, transportation, and so on, needs interdisciplinary knowledge and effectively solve many complex problems which are encountered. Today the image processing systems and the image sensors are endowed with intelligence and therefore the modern image analysis systems are based on module cooperation, integration, data augmentation, decision fusion, deep learning, transfer learning, and the use of cloud computing. The goal is to bring together researchers, engineering and users in different domains which are engaged in resolving problems of distributed monitoring, diagnosis and control with the aid of modern WSN. We invite you to present and discuss advances in the research and development of intelligent image processing based on neural networks. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to: - Artificial neural networks, - Image processing, - Transfer learning, - Data augmentation, - Decision fusion, - Detection of regions of interest, - Object classification, - Image segmentation, - Applications for monitoring of environmental parameters. Platform Labor and Health Special Issue Guest editors: Rafael Grohmann (Unisinos University, Brazil), Noopur Raval (New York University, United States), and Kruskaya Hidalgo Cordero (Platform Observatory, Equador) The platformization of labor not only jeopardizes labor rights and tax regularization mechanisms, but also generates serious effects on the health of people working in these economies. In some cases, as in on-demand delivery work, even human losses are reported on a daily basis. Content moderators and microworkers have many mental health issues. For example, in 2020, Facebook had to pay $52 million to its moderators who developed post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Thus, it is urgent to analyze health and welfare on digital platforms, both in relation to current conditions and to prefigure what futures we want in relation to health in the platform labor. This thematic dossier aims to compile studies on the intersection between health and platform labor, recognizing the importance of this debate. We accept articles in English, Spanish and Portuguese. We are especially interested in submissions that shed light across these themes: • Health of platform workers across the sectors; • Safety and health of platform labor in the streets: drivers, riders, shoppers; • Working from home: remote work, microwork, and reproductive labor; • Domestic work and beauty sector; • Intersection of gender, race, caste, class, age, sexuality or other dynamics in impacting health conditions of platform workers; • Decolonial perspectives on platform labor and health; • Beyond "invisible" and "hiddens" perspectives on platform labor and health; • Chronic illness, disabilities and platform capitalismo; • Mental health, right to disconnection and platform labor; • Mental health and plataform capitalismo; • Platformization of health workers and medical care workers; • Technologies and metrics of health surveillance and monitoring on platforms during covid-19; • Biopolitics and platform capitalism before and during the pandemic; • Organizational, moral and sexual harassment working on digital platforms; • Fair work on digital platforms and the role of health; • Health of platform workers and public policies; • Data justice movements and well being concerns of platform workers Submission deadline: June 30th, 2022. The 14th International ACM Conference Web Science in 2022 (WebSci'22) is an interdisciplinary conference where a multitude of research disciplines converge with the purpose of creating greater insight into a complex global Web than the sum of their individual parts. We invite participation from diverse fields including computer and information sciences, communication, economics, informatics, law, linguistics, philosophy, political science, psychology, and sociology. Contributions may be analytical, conceptual, creative, critical, predictive, theoretical (or all of the above) and should aim, wherever possible, to cross traditional disciplinary boundaries. The conference provides a platform to a range of practitioners from Ph.D. students to experienced researchers and ideas ranging from early work through projects as well as final analysis and completed publishable work. We look to evaluate and value the impact of the Web Science approach, its current theoretical, methodological, and epistemological challenges as well as Web practices of individuals, collectives, institutions, and platforms. The ACM Web Science Conference 2022 will run as a hybrid conference, where authors will present their work either in-person or remotely to participants gathering at the conference venue in Barcelona, or online. THE NEW NORMAL -------------------------- Web-based technologies have proven to be playing a vital role in enabling us to cope with the global pandemic. Having experienced two years of "crisis," many new norms have been forming, both socially and technologically. While some people long to return to how things were before the pandemic, others are questioning whether that is a state worth returning to. The main theme of this year's conference, therefore, is the old vs. the new normal. Even though the conference accepts a wide range of topics (see below), papers discussing this overall issue would be particularly welcomed. Web Science is an interdisciplinary field dedicated to understanding the complex and multiple impacts of the Web on society, and vice versa. As such, the field of Web Science is particularly well situated to address pressing issues of our time. Methodologically, Web Science is a discipline that is agnostic to specific methods. We welcome quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods research, including methods from the social sciences and computer science. Overview In an era that has been termed one of post-globalization (Flew, 2018), there is considerable debate around governance of the global Internet. In particular, multistakeholder approaches which seek to bypass nation-state governments in the name of global "netizens" have been critiqued as lacking real regulatory capacity to transform the behaviour of digital platforms towards public interest goals. This one-day symposium will explore questions of sovereignty in the digital environment from international and comparative perspectives. We are particularly interested in papers which address: ·The ‘regulatory turn’ towards digital platforms and comparative insights. ·How digital platforms with an international footprint navigate competing jurisdictional rules and regulations; ·The rise of “tech nationalism” and the promotion of digital “national champions”; ·New forms of regulation being developed by national governments and the European Union; ·The role of quasi-self-regulatory entities developed by companies themselves (e.g. Facebook Oversight Board); ·Proposals for reform of international internet governance institutions; ·The relationship between global digital platforms and questions of sovereignty and accountable governance; ·The impact of COVID-19 on digital platform governance. Submission and Selection Process Authors should submit an extended abstract of 300-500 words to: crem-ica-preconference-2022-metz-contact(a)univ-lorraine.fr <mailto:crem-ica-preconference-2022-metz-contact@univ-lorraine.fr> by January 31, 2022. The extended abstracts should include the main idea/argument, research questions, a short literature review and/or theoretical perspectives, information on methodology and empirical findings (if relevant). We welcome different approaches, including discussions of literature, concepts and theories, historical perspectives, and empirical analyses. The extended abstracts will go through a double-blind peer review process. All submitted abstracts must be anonymous with no reference to author(s). Include name, affiliation and contact details either in the email or in a separate attachment.
