VSI submitted papers should extend significantly the original work offering additional contribution and insight to the community. (https://www.ifip.org/) Wireless on-demand network systems and services have become mainstream technology, one that keeps shaping the networked world of the future. Different types of wireless LANs, both sub-6 GHz and in higher frequency bands, as well as such established technologies as Bluetooth LE, LTE-Direct, NFC, and optical links are the cornerstone of networking paradigms including NextG cellular, mesh and sensor networks, cloud networks, vehicular networks, non-terrestrial networks and in-body networks. The challenges of this exciting research field are numerous. These include providing robust services in highly dynamic and extreme environments, how to minimize energy demands or zero out battery usage in favor of renewable energy sources, how to smartly blend multiple wireless technologies available to a network node (including across radically different bands), and how to make wireless on-demand networks and services self-configurable, adaptive, self-organizing, and self-healing in a wealth of different context, each exhibiting its own peculiar constraints. IFIP WONS, now at its eighteenth edition, has established itself as a high quality forum to address the above and related challenges. WONS 2023 aims at continuing to provide a global platform for rich interactions between experts in their fields, discussing innovative contributions in a stimulating environment. This announcement solicits original contributions of high-quality research providing novel insights on all aspects of wireless on-demand networks and systems. MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION Authors are invited to submit double-column long papers (up to 8 pages) and short papers (up to 4 pages) as a PDF file using the standard IEEE template, with a font size no smaller than 10pt. Short papers should present future research directions and ongoing work with visionary, innovative ideas; accepted short papers will be presented in a separate session at the conference and will be included in the conference proceedings. Submitted papers must not have been published elsewhere and must not be currently under review by another conference or journal. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper. All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed by at least 3 independent experts in the field, following a single-blind process. REVIEW PROCESS We will have at least 3 reviews per paper and we count on the TPC members to do the reviews themselves in order to ensure high quality and comprehensive reviews. *SCOPE AND MOTIVATION* Recently, social network research has advanced rapidly with the prevalence of online social applications and mobile social communications systems. Metaverse has emerged as one of the future Internet for business, socialization, entertainment, and education in fully connected, immersive, and engaging online 3D virtual experiences. Nevertheless, the ongoing pandemic via contact social networks has caused tremendous human life and economic loss around the world, and infodemic is one of the major social impacts that make people difficult to discriminate trustworthy sources, from false and manipulative information sources. Therefore, researchers are increasingly interested in addressing a wide spectrum of challenges in social networks, such as developing social-aware algorithms for communications systems, identifying the topological common structures and information/influence flows, analyzing the social media and evolutions of social graphs, and exploiting location-based and contextual information embedded in mobile social networks to create innovative applications. Due to its increasing prevalence and interdisciplinary nature, social networks have also attracted intensive research interests across multiple disciplines, including artificial intelligence, blockchain, big data analytics, information security and privacy protection, psychology, and marketing. In light of the above crucial needs, Selected Areas in Communication Symposium in Social Networks will serve as a forum for researchers and technologists from academia, industry, and government to discuss the state-of-the-art, present their cutting-edge innovations and contributions, and set future directions in all aspects of social networks. Smart computing is a multidisciplinary domain based on the synergistic influence of advances in sensor-based technologies, Internet of Things, cyber-physical systems, edge computing, big data analytics, machine learning, cognitive computing, ambient intelligence, and artificial intelligence. Applications of smart computing can be found in various societal domains, including transportation, energy, environmental protection, smart and connected communities, healthcare, banking, industrial systems, entertainment, and social media. Algorithmic and systems advancements of cloud computing, mobile and pervasive computing, sensor networking, and social computing are taking smart computing to a new level while improving our ways of living. Paper Submission Guidelines Paper submissions must be no longer than 8 pages (the page count limit includes the references list) and formatted according to the two-column IEEE proceedings template. IEEE provides corresponding formatting templates at IEEE proceedings template. Authors should use the conference mode of the template, i.e., LaTeX users must use the conference option of the IEEEtran document class. Papers must be submitted electronically as a single PDF file on US Letter size paper (not A4), with all fonts embedded (PDF-A standard complies with this), through EDAS. All submitted papers that conform to these guidelines will be subject to peer reviews by Technical Program Committee members and other experts in the field. All presented papers will be published in the conference proceedings and submitted to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library. Therefore, depending on the situation during the conference time, remote participation and online presentation may be allowed under special circumstances. IEEE HPSR 2023 seeks tutorial proposals on new and emerging topics within the scope of the conference. Guideline for Tutorial Proposals The proposal should not exceed 4 one-column pages and must include: 1. Title 2. Name, affiliation, and a short biography of each tutorial speaker. 3. Abstract, objectives, and motivation. 4. Timeliness, duration (e.g., 1.5h; 3h) and intended audience. 5. A description of the technical issues that the tutorial will address, emphasizing its timeliness. 6. An outline of the tutorial content, including its tentative schedule. 7. Pre-required environment (e.g., Virtual machine, PC characteristics, AWS account, etc.) 8. If appropriate, a description of the past/relevant experience of the speaker(s) on the topic of the tutorial.
