Just two reminders to air-l posters and potential posters. First: Please make your post part of scholarly discussion and appropriate for an email list sponsored by the Association of Internet Researchers, which is an academic association dedicated to the advancement of the cross-disciplinary field of Internet studies. It is a member-based support network promoting critical and scholarly Internet research. The air-l email list is a place for individuals to engage in conversations about key research concerns and network with similarly-minded scholars. Please do not use air-l to post out-of-place messages about businesses or products with no context. To get a better understanding of the purpose of air-l, please read some of the discussions in the list archives at http://listserv.aoir.org/listinfo.cgi/air-l-aoir.org And regarding message size, because every week several messages are held by the list server because they exceed the limit for list posts. Nancy, I can sort of explain the 108,323 tracks thing, I worked at the BBC last year in Radio and Music Interactive (all radio interactive sites) and one of the things we did was to pump all of the tracks played into a last.fmaccount from the stations that used digital playout systems. As you can imagine this showed some interesting trends. 1xtra for example was very good at predicting future hits. Martin. Mixed Media Interviews and Focus Groups

AoIR List Members-- I have followed the thread on online focus groups. Thanks for the many useful references. As part of my dissertation research, I will be conducting distance interviews and focus groups. I had thought to give participants a choice of media for the interviews so that they could pick that which is most comfortable for them. Assuming that participants will choose different media, I wonder if you can provide me with any references on the validity of mixed media for interviews and focus groups. Are there solid precedents for mixing media?
