what does this Statistics Canada index mean?

What more can I say? lol In my helping consumer survivors of mental health services with getting computers I am quoting a Statistics Canada index for consumer computer prices. The index I believe was set to 100 in 2001 and is in October 2006 at 16. I have been saying this means 100 dollars in 2001 bought you so much computer, and you can get the same amount of computer for 16 dollars these days. Am I very wrong or only sightly wrong? The prices at computer shops seem to reflect a downward trend. The iBook in 1999 was 2000 CND dollars and now a similar model in Apples lineup the Macbook costs about 1000 CND dollars. My work has found a unidimensional scale for media use in a couple of environments. This does not imply an adoption sequence, but a use sequence. Wesch does an excellent job in a brief presentation of providing a tentative definition of 'Web 2.0' and hinting at its possible impacts. I don't know how updated or used it really gets -- they list only NTT (Japan) as an IPv6ed ISP -- but see also <http://wiki.go6.net/index.php?title=Main_Page#IPv6_Readiness_Status>, I guess. It includes a bunch of IPv6-reachable hosts running Web services (what you were talking about) as opposed to backbones which can route them natively, meaning without IPv4 wrappers on either end (what I've been prattling on about). cheers Bram
