Searching for the studies of post-adoption discontinuance

I am studying communication technologies and post-adoption discontinuance for my dissertation. Even though the innovation diffusion theory, the technology acceptance model, and others has dealt with the phenomena, but empirical studies of it are quite rare except Papazafeiropoulou's and Parthasarathy's. And, I also think the conception of the discontinuance is some problematic in that it is included in the cycle of diffusion processes. I need to know some researches on discontinuance. Laughter in CMC.

Hi all, Does anyone know of any sources that specifically examine the use of laughter in online communications (both 'lexically', as in 'lol' or 'haha', and through textual play, such as '::laughs::')? I'm looking for significant discussions of the use and interpretation of laughter, rather than just short descriptions devoted to this phenomenon within a larger piece of work. Turn-taking in email

Hi Everyone, I'd like to leverage the recent and informative discussion on hedges to ask a related conversation-analysis question. Can anyone point me to discussions of turn-taking online, particularly via email? I know of Marc Smith's work with newsgroups and 'answer-people', Loch et. al.'s paper comparing online and offline turntaking and Rebecca Warner's work, but that's about it. I'm studying African American weblogs and online media for my dissertation; i did a technorati and bloglines search initially, but was really unsatisfied with the results because many of the African American blogs i read weren't included. I did a snowball sample, using informants (bloggers) and their blogrolls, said inspiration being derived by work that Susan Herring and some others have been doing a lot of work on blogs recently (cites below). That worked really well for me, but i should add that it worked well because i was looking for bloggers discussing a specific race-related incident. I did so because such incidents seem to crystallize discussions of identity, which of course in a blogging context is performed discursively and often reified in the comments. Basically, if you're looking for a performance of identity - which is what i'm getting when you use the word "genre" - you need to find content that encourages an articulation of that identity. Thousands of bloggers write about their cats, but cats are pretty much a race-neutral topic. Look for topics that incite comment, and you'll find your target population. Herring, S. Can you recommend peer-reviewed print journals on computer research? I have an article-length analysis of my recent online survey of those who create and use chatbots (conversational agents) and I'm trying to get a sense of the publications, beyond the lists I have been able to find. My particular line of inquiry was into issues of race, gender, and sexuality as opposed to practical usability questions (if that helps recommend journals). If people have feelings on a hierarchy (top journals to average), please contribute that as well -- I'm sure others on the list have similar questions. A PS on hedges -- is the interest in written text or spoken text or e-text? there will be some methodological differences concerning the analysis for each. Ken Hyland, for example, has some extremely interesting discussions of hedging in written text. There is, as this discussion suggests, more controversy in how to interpret hedges in spoken, transcribed, and electronic text.
