FM 2016 Industry Track part of the 21st International Symposium on Formal Methods http://www.cs.ucy.ac.cy/~george/lm/lm.php?tk=YWlyLUwJCQlhaXItTEBsaXN0c2Vydi… Limassol, Cyprus, November 7-11, 2016 IMPORTANT DATES * Industry Track Submission: July 31, 2016 (AoE) * Industry Track Notification: August 22, 2016 * Industry Track Camera Ready: September 5, 2016 * Industry Track Date: November 10, 2016 CALL FOR INDUSTRY TRACK PAPERS FM 2016 is the 21st in a series of symposia organized by Formal Methods Europe, an independent association whose aim is to stimulate the use of, and research on, formal methods for software development. The symposia have been notably successful in bringing together innovators and practitioners in precise mathematical methods for software and systems development, industrial users, as well as researchers. The industry track of FM 2016 welcomes short papers and extended abstracts describing industrial applications of formal methods, experience with introducing formal methods in industry, tool usage reports, experiments with challenge problems. Authors are encouraged to explain how the use of formal methods has overcome engineering and qualification problems, led to improvements in design or provided new insights. A survey of industrial applications of formal methods has been conducted and is continuously being extended (now with more than 100 entries). It would be welcome if submissions to the industrial track also would take the time to supply an entry to this survey (http://fm2016.cs.ucy.ac.cy/img/EntryTemplate.xlsx) We hope during the industry track of FM 2016 to provide a new status of this survey so you will be able to see how your findings compare to others. PAPER SUBMISSION Industry track papers should not exceed 6 pages (including appendices and references) for short papers. Accepted short papers will be published in the Symposium Proceedings, to appear in Springer's Lecture Notes in Computer Science. Extended abstracts of 2-4 pages are also welcome and will be added in a conference report. Submitted papers (written in English) should not have been published or submitted elsewhere concurrently for publication, shall not contain any proprietary information that might hamper publication (to be checked and confirmed by author prior to submission) and should be in Springer's LNCS format. All submissions will be evaluated by at least three members of the industry track program committee. Accepted papers shall be presented at the conference in person by at least one of the authors of the paper. Papers should be submitted through the FM 2016 Industry Track EasyChair web site. http://www.cs.ucy.ac.cy/~george/lm/lm.php?tk=YWlyLUwJCQlhaXItTEBsaXN0c2Vydi… (select "FM Industry Track" when adding a new submission) A number of invited papers from the industry are also expected for presentation in the Industry track of FM 2016. New Media & Society, http://nms.sagepub.com/content/early/2016/03/30/1461444816639975 ## PRE-CONFRERENCE WORKSHOP TO THE AOIR 2016 The Internet Rules, But How? A Science and Technology Studies (STS) Take on Doing Internet Governance 05 Oct 2016 | 9 am – 5.30 pm | HU Berlin, Dorotheenstr. 24, Berlin-Mitte This pre-conference Workshop is part of the AoIR conference. Over the last decade, the regulation and governance of the Internet at the national and international level have attracted growing attention by policy-makers and researchers. This is particularly the case in post-Snowden times which increased distrust of formal government institutions and their ‘dangerous liaisons’ with the private sector. Accordingly, observing and researching governing processes as they relate to the Internet is both timely and important. Traditionally, researchers and practitioners in Internet governance (IG) focused on new institutions established to discuss and negotiate the technical coordination of the Internet or related policies. Recently, authors have criticized this institutional focus, and perspectives from Science and Technology Studies (STS) suggest to rethink and substantiate questions of ordering and governing the net. In this view, the ‘doing’ of IG more broadly consists in practices and controversies of the design, regulation, and use of material infrastructures, as well as digital uses and practices. This preconference workshop seeks to nurture the growing interest in researching and observing IG from STS-informed perspectives. More broadly, the workshop aims to facilitate a discussion and an exchange of perspectives about the intertwined roles of design, infrastructures, and informal communities of practice in IG. This workshop is part of a broader effort of advancing an STS-informed conversation on Internet governance: it builds on the panel on STS perspectives on IG that took place during AoIR 2015 in Phoenix and a forthcoming special issue of the Internet Policy Review (to be published in early September 2016). 9:00 Welcome Keynote Laura De Nardis 9:45 Session I. 22nd ACM International Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces (IUI 2017): Last Call for Student Travelling Support
by Announce Announcements 25 Jul '16

25 Jul '16

*** Last Call for Student Travelling Support *** 22nd ACM International Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces IUI 2017 St. Raphael Resort, Limassol, Cyprus March 13-16, 2017 http://www.cs.ucy.ac.cy/~george/lm/lm.php?tk=YWlyLUwJCQlhaXItTEBsaXN0c2Vydi… Following the tradition of previous years, we will offer student participation support provided by SIGCHI to attend the IUI Conference. This support is in the form of a small stipend to cover the registration fee and partially cover the costs of travel and living expenses while attending the conference. The students will be reimbursed for their expenses after the conference. All students who get travel grants from SIGCHI must send us a paragraph about their experience and a headshot before they will be reimbursed. You must be a member of SIGCHI before you apply ($19 dues). The objective of IUI's student support is to encourage students interested in subjects related to Intelligent User Interfaces to become active members of the IUI community. To apply, the student should be actively enrolled as a student in an academic institution. Priority will be given to students who are first authors of accepted papers and to participants in the doctoral consortium. Recipients of the stipend are also expected to help the conference organization as student volunteers. The level of support will be determined by the availability of funds and the number of eligible applications. The application should include: 1. Full name 2. Email address 3. The school you are attending, your major, and the country in which the school resides 4. If you will present at the conference, please provide the title of the submission and its type (e.g., research paper, student consortium, demo). Please note if you have submitted but have not found out if your submission has been accepted 5. A short statement describing your research interests and how you wish to benefit from attending this conference 6. The location you are flying from and the cost for your airfare, as determined by the availability of low-cost economy fares for travel to the conference. Please describe any other expenses you expect to accrue, but do not include registration and housing costs, as they are similar for all students 7. A letter of recommendation from your thesis or doctoral advisor (or supervising faculty member) sent separately by email to the Student Consortium Co-Chairs. If you are also applying to the Student Consortium, one appropriately worded recommendation letter can be used for both applications, or you may submit a slightly different letter for each application 8. You must be a member of SIGCHI before you apply The application The SSTG application has two parts: an application form that is submitted by the student; and a letter of support from the student's advisor that the student will attach to his or her application. More information and a link for submitting an application (available a month before the deadline, early July 2016) can be found on the SIGCHI website (http://www.sigchi.org/conferences/funding/student-travel-grant) Submit your single, combined PDF (except letter of recommendation, must be a separate PDF to attach to the application) to PCS by the deadline! The application round opens in early July, create an account/login to PCS, and look for the submission link under SIGCHI. Deadline for applications for student support: August 1st, 2016. Notification of Results: August 15th, 2016.
