Hi all, This is just a call for help. Does anyone on list have sample (and what they think is a good one or two) surveys that are designed to test social media advocacy/social justice campaign - usability survey that they can point me to? Hi, Would anyone know what are the criteria concerning internet material's validity? Is it common that you as a researcher will be asked to prove that the material you have collected from the internet is real. Since a lot of internet data disappears everyday, mere url addresses are not enough. Even html files can be modified after saving webpages. I would appreciate if someone had time to answer. Maria

Is there additional onus of proof for web based material? How do you prove that survey responses are real, that notes from interviews are real .... The verification is in how you frame the project and write up the results. List of Arab Spring and Media-related theory papers and empirical studies

Dear Colleagues, Several scholars both on-list and off (including myself) have put together a list of academic literature related to the Arab Spring from a media studies perspective - a Google Doc https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DU8AOlkTV6F0ZyoGcbk_060iBZG5tWKwj_n97EJ… (it started as a posting on my Facebook page - evidence it's not all about sharing cat pix!). I then produced a Zotero group https://www.zotero.org/groups/arabspringmedia from it which is now well behind the growth of the Google doc. Please use these docs, redistribute them and most of all add to them. I personally would be particularly interested in theoretical texts and/or textbooks for teaching which may not be directly about the Arab Spring but which would relate helpfully to its study (eg foundational texts about the role of new media in activism). I would also be grateful for help in maintaining and updating the Zotero group which is now 'out of sync' with the greatly-expanded Google Doc list. Affordances, Uses and Risks of Social Media March 20th – 22nd 2013, Antwerp, Belgium UCSIA & MIOS, University of Antwerp, are pleased to announce the organisation of an international, multidisciplinary workshop on young people’s uses of social media in general and social network sites in particular. Contributions from a wide range of theoretical and methodological perspectives and from diverse scientific fields are welcomed. Next to individual paper submissions, proposals for organized panel sessions will be taken into consideration. This international event will address a number of relevant questions related to the use of social media by children, adolescents and young adults. Keynote presentations and parallel sessions center around four main topics: 1. Identity construction (e.g. self-disclosure, impression management, privacy) 2. Me and my small team of engineers have been developing the Socrator : "Upload your idea and make it chat!"
