quotes and hashtags
by Barry Wellman 23 May '12

23 May '12

Most so-calld quotes on the internet arent verifiable. Just went thru that again today with the alleged Hemingway, "All first drafts are shit." (Yes, I know there is a quote with "shit" in it, but it's quite different) And whoever said hashtags are useless doesn't grok their usefulness for: #conferences, such as #ica-12 #ironic statements. Speaking of which, the International Communication Association is awarding a prize to the best #ica12 tweet by Fri nite. The prize: Me! More exactly, "coffee with Barry" on Saturday + a signed copy of our Networked book. I swear I didn't set this up. #blamekatypearce Barry Wellman _______________________________________________________________________ S.D. Twitter quote from Nunberg
by Darja Dayter 23 May '12

23 May '12

Dear AoIRists, in articles on Twitter in various internet media I often come across a quote from Geoffrey Nunberg who allergedly called Twitter hashtags an emoticon of sorts and 'plain stupid' (e.g. here http://gizmodo.com/5869538/how-the-hashtag-is-ruining-the-english-language) However, they do not give a source, and I cannot locate it. Does anyone know if Geoff Nunberg really said anything like that, and if yes, where? It seems to me that wider context would be important in this situation. Thanks! Daria -- Wiss. users and GLAM institutions on the Web
by Marcin Wilkowski 22 May '12

22 May '12

Dear all, To prepare my research I'am trying to build a list of publications, case studies and theoretical conceptions connected with the problem of relations and collaboration (or maybe competition) between institutions and users/citizens, mainly in the context of GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives & Museums) and with a basic background on the Web. So not only GLAM WikiProject, but also maybe any exemples of "hacking" institutional heritage resources or building an informal communities around them. Thank you for any suggestion, Marcin Wilkowski --- moja strona domowa http://wilkowski.org/ http://www.facebook.com/mwilkowski http://twitter.com/marcinwilkowski --- Historyczne zasoby internetu, nowe trendy w humanistyce, historia w mediach http://historiaimedia.org/
