Call for Special Issues The Electronic Journal of Communication (EJC) is seeking proposals for special issues edited by scholars on a variety of topics addressing human communication, including, but not limited to: electronic, digital, or social media scholarship; communication studies; journalism; information science; human-computer interaction; or related fields of study. EJC has focused for over 20 years on developing thematic issues that address innovative or niche topics, research methods, or pedagogical interests with the goals of highlighting emerging scholarship and directing attention to compelling topics. Recent issues have addressed the rise of digital visuals in communication scholarship; discourse and materiality in risk, crisis, emergency, and disaster; and the impact of digital technology on relationship development. For further information about the kinds of themes around which issues have been built in the past, please see: http://www.cios.org/www/ejcmain.htm . Editors of EJC issues commit to double blind review of manuscripts. The acceptance rate for manuscripts submitted to EJC’s special issues has been approximately 50% or less. Seeking potential collaborators: Digital methods to study how the public interacts with research online

Hello AoIR community, One of my areas of focus is how members of the public interact and engage with academic research. Sometimes I study people's direct involvement in research projects, but I am turning my attention to how people interact with research findings (and publications) online. I am particularly interested in what types of digital methods we (could) use to study public interaction with research findings, including sharing or responding to academic research on social media platforms, exchanging news stories that report on research etc. Is this your area of work? Are you interested in these ideas and looking to collaborate? If so please get in touch. My apologies if this is already a well-established field of research. I keep trying to find existing literature and potential research collaborators, but I have not got this figured out yet. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN DIGITAL COMMUNICATION UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SANTA BARBARA The Department of Communication invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the area of digital communication. Candidates must complete all requirements for a Ph.D (or equivalent) in communication or related social science field except the dissertation by the time of application. A Ph.D (or equivalent) is required by the time of appointment, July 1, 2020. Candidates should have strong methodological skills and a record of publishing theoretically-oriented, rigorous empirical research. The department is interested in candidates whose research illuminates basic communicative processes that are transformed through contemporary communication technologies. The successful candidate will complement one or more of the Department’s core areas in interpersonal/intergroup, media and technology, and organizational communication, as well as any of our cross-cutting emphases in health, family, or global approaches to communication. Research specializations pertaining to digital communication may include its intersections with institutions, health communication, political processes, computational social science, relationships and well-being, groups and teams, novel social phenomena enabled by communication technology, media neuroscience, and various other innovative foci. Candidates are expected to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels and be active in professional and campus service. UCSB is ranked in the top 10 public universities in the United States, and the Department of Communication is ranked 5th in worldwide comparisons. It places great value on interdisciplinary research collaboration across campus, as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion. Assistant Professor Position_Digital Media Studies The Department of Communication at Bellarmine University seeks an outstanding candidate for assistant professor of digital media studies. Through this tenure-track position, we seek a critical-cultural digital media scholar who can teach students about the everyday uses of digital media in contemporary work (e.g., designing social media campaigns) while interrogating the larger ramifications of digital culture (e.g., social and ethical concerns). The position includes teaching at both the undergraduate level and in our graduate programs (M.A. in Communication, M.S. in Digital Media). Candidate must have a Ph.D. in Communication or a related field. Candidates will be considered if the degree is completed by August 1, 2020. The ability to teach courses in Communication and Media Ethics, Communication Theory, and Intercultural Communication is highly desired.
