Karim Lakhani has asked about papers about collaboration via email. Anabel Quan-Haase and I have just finished a few such papers. One has been published (in Analyse und Kritik which is not online) and one will be published within the year in a book about Community and Collaboration in Business that Oxford U Press is publishing, and is edited by Paul Adler and Charles Heckscher. The title of this year's conference ought to be a link, and there should ideally also be a link in the left-hand menu. To add insult to injury, the conference is not linked from the "links" section, and if you choose "conference" from the "resources" section, you get the 2003 conference. How are people supposed to find the cool new site? Less important, but nice, would be to make the AoIR logo on the 2006 conference page a link to http://aoir.org. Faculty of Information Technology, University of Technology Sydney PhD studentships [3 years fixed term]-- up to $32,000 per annum Applications are invited for a number of full-time PhD studentships in the areas of network mining [a new branch of unstructured datamining], e-negotiation and multiagent systems in the eMarkets Group of the Faculty of Information Technology, University of Technology, Sydney. The Faculty has a vibrant research culture with strong emphasis on basic research, and on applied research in collaboration with industry partners. The e-Markets Research Group (http://research.it.uts.edu.au/emarkets) has funding from two ARC Discovery Grants, and a Linkage Grant with the international telecommunications company Alcatel (France). The e-Markets Group focusses on developing Artificial Intelligence techniques for deployment in distributed market-based applications including, but not limited to, next-generation communications networks. The total scholarship support per studentship is negotiable up to 32K. Students, who have already been granted postgraduate awards are particularly encouraged to apply as negotiable top-ups are available. The successful applicant is expected to have a solid background in Computer Science and Information Technology and a sustained interest in multidisciplinary research in applied artificial intelligence particularly: multiagent systems, e-negotiation, data mining, network mining and network analysis, understanding of complexity issues, and interaction with the researchers in the fields.
