Call for papers - JANUS 2017 The next edition of the journal Janus, to be published in 2017, aims to encourage research integrating International Relations and Communication Science. The referred scientific fields are here understood in their widest sense, since our goal is to provide a creative and interdisciplinary space for dialogue. Janus, the precursor of janus.net, an indexed journal, aims at scientific dissemination by providing the public with in-depth articles on international themes. We invite submissions on this interdisciplinary field for peer-review until 31 january 2015. All submissions will go through a peer-review process. The manuscripts of selected abstracts, due until 28 February 2016, should not exceed 12,000 characters. Publication norms will be made available soon. The association is international in scope. We hold a yearly interdisciplinary academic conference. Our upcoming conference is in October in Berlin. AoIR seeks an energetic and responsible Association Coordinator to support the mission of the Association. The AC provides support for all aspects of Association business, including: managing the website and the email list of 5,000 subscribers, monitoring and contributing to social media, managing the membership lists, supporting our online publication of conference proceedings, and assisting with conference management. Required skills include: strong technical abilities and an ability to successfully trouble-shoot software systems, such as WordPress for managing our website, ConfTool for conference management, and Wild Apricot for membership management. We have an open-access publishing system that also requires troubleshooting, updating, and management. The applicant must possess strong communication and writing skills, an understanding of community management, and an ability to work proactively and independently. Experience with academic associations is strongly preferred. This is an Independent Contractor position of 10-15 hours a week. Pay is commensurate with experience. Non-U.S. applicants will be subject to withholding and taxes. Review of applications will begin February 8, 2016 until the position is filled. It is concerned with all aspects of modern hypertext research including social media, semantic web, dynamic and computed hypertext and hypermedia as well as narrative systems and applications. Hypertext 2016 will focus on missing links on the WWW: how can the Hypertext paradigm and research inspire and improve the Web? Which missing links (and linking paradigms) can improve connections, communication and collaboration? Apart from the regular research tracks, Hypertext 2016 will feature a creative track. The conference will take place at the campus of Dalhousie University in Halifax, the capital of Nova Scotia and the major cultural centre of Canada’s Atlantic provinces. Call for Applications: International Visiting Fellowships in Critical Digital & Social Media Research The Westminster Institute for Advanced Studies (WIAS) www.westminster.ac.uk/wias is a newly created academic space at the University of Westminster in London for independent critical thinking beyond borders. Its inaugural research theme is Critical Digital & Social Media Research. One of the WIAS’ key features is the Research Fellowship Programme that attracts and brings together current and future academic leaders. We invite applications for international junior and senior research fellows (from all academic backgrounds) who conduct fellowship research projects in the realm of Critical Social & Digital Media Research for the duration of 3 months in 2016. Several fellowships will be awarded as result of this call. The fellowships cover airfare and a contribution to accomodation and subsistence in London. Funded scholarships are only awarded as a result of open calls. The WIAS invites both junior and senior fellows.
