Digital technology makes copying and pasting easy, of course. But that is the least of it. The Internet may also be redefining how students — who came of age with music file-sharing, Wikipedia and Web-linking — understand the concept of authorship and the singularity of any text or image. In this presentation, we will review the Read/Write Traditions of the Arts, Humanities, and Sciences; analyze key Past / Present / Future Participatory Technologies; and explore the potential of Web 2.0 for creating/fostering Disruptive Learning / Scholarship / Teaching in the 21st century. Registration and Paypal Currency Conversion

All, For those of you registering for AoIR 11.0 (and who isn't?) you need to be careful of the currency conversion rate offered by Paypal. You have the choice of using Paypal's or whatever your bank is charging. I looked twice at it since the total in USD was quite a bit higher than I had calculated. Many banks charge 1% (mine did) which was way less than Paypal. Paypal was offering 1 USD = 7.02 SEK while a 1% charge rate via my bank was 7.30 SEK. There is a link that allows you to select other conversion rates when it converts to your home currency. Click on it and you get to choose between the two. I do not convert a not of currency, so I could be confused (okay, more confused than normal). I did find some discussion on Paypals high rates for converting currency. I suggest you calculate your own and then make an informed choice. -TED -- Ted M. Determinants of mobile learning acceptance: An empirical investigation in higher education

The purpose of this study was to investigate the determinants of mobile learning acceptance in higher education. Mobile learning is a rapidly growing method of learning that utilizes mobile devices to deliver content. Acceptance of mobile learning theory was derived from technology acceptance theories. The study developed a new model Mobile Learning Acceptance Model (MLAM) that extended the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The model explains the important factors that influence acceptance of mobile learning among university students. The population of the survey was limited to freshman students; this population was chosen because the literature indicated a presence of large technology literacy gap (techno-literacy gap) between universities and the new generation of students. Response rate was high at approximately 95%. Dear all, I am working on my dissertation right now about dialogic public relations via the WWW through the analysis of two official tourism websites. I would really appreciate your views on two aspects. One, if you could refer me to a document or publication to analyse what design features a website should have to interact with their audiences. There are hundreds of marketing articles on the internet but I would like to have a more academic expert and professional guidance which is your case. The second thing is to know what would be the average loading time to consider reasonable (less than 6 or 10 seconds?) one of my favorite authors on the subject remains jean francois blanchette. he co-authored this article on the importance of forgetfulness back in 2002: Blanchette, J.-F. & Johnson, D. “Data retention and the panoptic society: The social benefits of forgetfulness”, The Information Society 18(1):1-13 (January/February 2002). blanchette's work is also interesting because it reflects on the tension between the unforgetting internet, matters of data authenticity, and the huge problem of data preservation. and, here is an article that might be relevant about a court in the U.S. that accepted pictures from a social network site of a young woman enjoying a party a number of weeks after a car accident with casualties in which she was the driver.
